Suely is Certified in Canine First Aid & CPR, a PR+ trainer, and a Behavioral and Nutritional Advisor.
Originally from Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, Suely was literally raised with and by dogs. Her mother was an avid animal lover and rescuer. Her brother trained and raised Dobermans and at 22 got his degree as a Veterinarian. Suely’s babysitters were a Doberman named Cassandra and a Collie named Lassie.
Suely always believed that her early introduction and interaction with animals, especially dogs, made her understand and realize that animals do speak, but only to the ones that know how to listen. She learned their language and how to communicate with them even before she could walk or talk. Her mother and brother used to be amazed how a little baby and the dogs could communicate so well even without being able to speak.
Later in her life Suely started to follow her brother’s footsteps and learned very early in life the so-called “new” training style – Positive Reinforcement Training PR+. We always knew that, "If you’re a good dog trainer you don’t need to resort to physical punishment.” – Dr. Sophia Yin
Thanks to Dr. Yin, Suely was able to realize that she and her brother were not crazy when they thought that training dogs and understanding their behavior was more about changing human's behavior and mentality to understand the learning process of animals (including us humans), rather than projecting ourselves as "The Boss" or "The pack leader" and punishing/hurting our dogs so they would cease unwanted behaviors. “I tell you it's the toughest part of my job-educating the humans! When I am teaching a dog and he doesn't get it, IT'S MY FAILURE! Either I am asking too much at once or I am not being able to communicate properly what I want,” says Suely.
